2009 9 & Under Open USSSA World Series
Tournament Information
Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2009 9 & Under Open USSSA Baseball World Series. Your tournament host will be BC Baseball. It will be our goal to create an experience that the players, coaches and families will remember for the rest of their lives.
Your USSSA State Director will enter teams in the appropriate age of play. Click here for your USSSA State Director. The tournament will be played at the Ellisville Athletic Association Complex in St. Louis, MO on July 18-25, 2009. The Ellisville Athletic Association is located at: 2301 West Hill Park Drive, Ellisville, MO 63011. Also, in case of overflow we have additional fields at The Pond Athletic Association Complex located at Pond Road, Grover, MO.
The 2009 9 & Under Open USSSA Baseball World Series will be conducted under a pool play onto a double-elimination championship bracket or a single-elimination consolation bracket, as per USSSA baseball rules. Teams will be placed in pools where they will play a round robin within their pool. Teams will then be placed onto a Championship bracket or a Consolation bracket following pool play. The exact format of the tournament (e.g., number of pools, number of teams in each pool, etc.) will be set by the Tournament Director following USSSA Baseball guidelines and being approved by the USSSA Baseball National Committee.
NOTE: Teams should plan to play a minimum of 5 games, weather permitting, and should plan to play through at least Wednesday afternoon and/or evening. For the most part, consolation bracket games should end on Wednesday and championship bracket games should end of Friday or Saturday, depending upon total number of entries, weather, etc.
Your team's ENTRY FORM and cashier's check or money order only, for the entry fee MUST BE RECEIVED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR BY JULY 13, 2009. The State Director will then forward this material with your official roster and a letter of transmittal to BC Baseball's main offices: BC Baseball, Twin Oaks Sports Center, 351 North Purdy Lane, Columbia, MO 65201. Your entry fee, in the amount of $495.00 should be made payable to: USSSA Baseball.
THE ROSTER WE RECEIVE MUST BE SIGNED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR. THIS ROSTER MUST BE THE ONE THAT WAS SUBMITTED TO YOUR STATE AND/OR AREA DIRECTOR WHEN YOUR TEAM QUALIFIED FOR THIS TOURNAMENT. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN YOUR TEAM'S SUSPENSION FROM PARTICIPATION IN THIS TOURNAMENT! PLAYERS WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY CHECKED IN AT EACH TOURNAMENT WITH PROPER USSSA APPROVED ID OR BIRTH CERTIFICATES.

All players participating in USSSA Baseball tournament play shall have photocopies of their original birth certificates in the possession of their team manager. Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate available upon demand will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings and forfeiting all awards, sponsors travel money and tournament berths the would have been awarded at the tournament.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Any player who before May 1, 2009 reaches their 10th birthday shall not be eligible to play in the 9 and Under World Series.
Any player can play in a higher age classification but cannot play in a lower age group.
Bases will be 65' and pitching 44' other dimensions will be as prescribed in the USSSA Baseball Handbook.
All players must be fully uniformed, which includes the following: Pants, socks, cap, and team shirt with numbers that are non-duplicating and at least three inches in height.
Managers and coaches must wear a baseball cap with team insignia and will be properly dressed. (Coaches may wear coaches' shorts).
While in the field, as a defensive player, team caps must be worn.
Protest on uniforms will not be allowed. It shall be the Tournament Director's responsibility regarding uniform legality. Violation of the uniform rule will result in the violator being allowed to conform or be removed from the game.
Metal spikes are prohibited in age groups 5-12.
A full-use batting helmet which covers the top and back of the head and the side of the face must be worn by every player while in the on deck circle, when at bat and while on the bases.
All bat boys/girls will wear full-use batting helmets when their team is at bat.
The catcher must wear a full-use catcher’s helmet and mask.
All playing rules not specifically covered above shall be governed by the OFFICIAL BASEBALL NATIONAL BY-LAWS & RULES and the rules for Major League Baseball.

HOTEL INFORMATION:
This following hotel contact information is for all BC Baseball tournaments. BC Baseball has worked with a hotel group in the St. Louis area to help teams book rooms while attending the 2009 9 and Under Open World Series. This group works in conjunction with numerous hotels in each area to assure teams get the accommodations they desire. This group also works with the hotels to assure that teams will not be assessed an early departure/check-out fee if they are done playing prior to the end of the tournament. We ask that you contact this group when attending the 2009 9 and Under Open World Series.

2009 PRE-TOURNAMENT EVENTS:
Manager's Meeting, Team Mom Meeting, and Team Check-In will be on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel St. Louis at Westport, 1973 Craigshire Road, St. Louis, MO 63146.
There will be a manager's/coaches meeting (Time will be no earlier than 10AM) on
Saturday, July 18. Two
representatives from each team will be permitted to attend this meeting. All
teams are required to have a
representative in attendance. The official schedule will be distributed at this
meeting.
There will be a Team Representative/Team Mom meeting (Time will be no earlier
than 11AM) on Saturday, July 18. All teams should have at least one
representative at this meeting. ALL Pre-orders
will be distributed at this meeting. Important information about
the player social, opening ceremonies, team photos etc. will be discussed at
this meeting.
Team credential check in will be scheduled (Time will be no earlier than 1PM) on Saturday, July 18. We ask that teams call the BC office at 573-445-8999 no later than a week before the tournament on a first come basis to set up a check-in time to allow for the process to go more smoothly. Team Rosters and player birth certificates will be verified at this time. All players must be present at team check-in. Make sure to bring your team in uniform for a team picture after check-in.
OPENING CEREMONIES:
Opening Ceremonies will be held on Saturday afternoon (Time TBA) at Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, 700 Clark Ave., St. Louis, MO 63102. The ceremonies will precede the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks at 6:15PM. These ceremonies will include a Parade of Teams and a visit from the St. Louis Cardinals' mascot Fredbird as a part of the activities. More detailed information on the Opening Ceremonies will be posted at a later time.
NOTE: Everyone, including players, must have a ticket to the Cardinal game in order to attend the opening ceremonies. Teams should pre-order their tickets in advance and pay for these at Check-In on Saturday July 18, 2009.

D. Individual awards to first and second place consolation teams
E. Outstanding offensive player award

ADMISSION PRICES:
Admission during the tournament will be $7.00 per person per day or $25.00 for a tournament pass. For children (6-12) the charge will be $4.00 or $15.00 for a tournament pass. This charge includes everyone except players and team coaches. A maximum of 3 player/coach passes will be issued.

Avoid the rush at the World Series for Souvenirs, T-Shirts and Tournament Passes. This gives you the opportunity to preorder these items in advance. An order form will be posted to the main web page (Coming Soon) to order T-Shirts and Tournament Passes. To avoid waiting in line, your pre-ordered items will be available and waiting on you at the “Team Moms” meeting.
