BC Baseball Academy To Hold Tryouts

For 2010 Summer High School Teams

Tryouts Will Be Held At: BC Baseball's

Twin Oaks Complex; 351 North Purdy Lane, Columbia, MO

Dates: Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, October 31 from 1PM-4PM

The BC Baseball Academy, under the direction of Academy Director Bob Coons, former high school baseball coach from Jefferson City High School, will be conducting tryouts for its summer high school aged teams. Plans are to have 2 to 4 teams for the 2010 summer -- two elite/prospect level teams (Team BC-18U and Team BC-16U) will be formed and, if there are enough interested players, two high school summer teams (BC Varsity and BC Junior Varsity) also will be formed.

The tryouts will be conducted at the Twin Oaks Baseball Complex just east of Columbia on Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, October 31, 2009. Tryouts will begin at 1PM and end by 4PM. These tryouts will take place regardless of the weather. In case of inclement weather, we will have tryouts in the BC Baseball Academy indoor facility at Twin Oaks. Players only need to attend one of the tryout sessions; however they are welcome to attend both.

Players which are playing on one of the fall BC Baseball Academy teams (Team BC, BC Varsity or BC Junior Varsity) do not need to attend these tryouts. Players which attended one of the previous fall tryouts, do not need to attend these tryouts.

2010 BC BASEBALL ACADEMY SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL TEAM INFO

Team BC-18U

This team will travel to elite/prospect tournaments and showcase events. Games/events may start on Thursdays and run through Sundays. The schedule will run 8-9 weeks, generally with practices beginning on Memorial Day weekend for those players whose high school season has ended. This team will practice at least once per week and also may have several mid-week games.

Team BC-16U

BC Varsity Team

This team will travel to several tournament events over a nine week summer schedule, along with mid-week and weekend games against other high school summer teams/programs. The schedule will run 8-9 weeks, generally with practices beginning on Memorial Day weekend for those players whose high school season has ended. This team will practice at least once per week in addition to its mid-week game schedule.

BC Junior Varsity Team

The BC Baseball Academy is committed to helping develop young baseball players. In addition to its six Starpath teams, The BC Baseball Academy fielded three three high school aged teams in the fall of 2008 and 2009, along with one high school aged team in the summer of 2009. The success of these teams has led to additional teams for the 2010 summer. The BC Baseball Academy plans to build on the success that those teams and players experienced.

The Academy's high school teams are for athletes and parents who desire a program geared to developing college-bound players. Families who desire to participate in college baseball must understand the time commitment that is necessary to develop the skills individually and collectively. The BC Baseball Academy will provide the opportunity to develop the essential skills through experienced coaching, practice opportunities, and games against the top teams in the country. Although exposure is important to everyone, our primary focus will always be on player development. A great team will enhance everyone's opportunity to play college baseball. Our top teams will practice and play five to six days per week. A commitment to one of our teams means baseball is one of your top priorities. Our players will be expected to participate in off-season training and our fall program, unless participating in a high school athletic program in another sport.

The coaches involved in our program are all experienced in college or professional baseball with extensive baseball coaching experience. Our coaches have an extensive network of college coaches and professional scouts across the Midwest to provide access for our players.

The funding for the BC Baseball Academy and its teams comes from player fees and fund-raising events. Each player pays a Team Fee and a Travel Fee, which will vary depending upon the team and its schedule. The Travel Fee covers the costs associated with traveling the team to tournaments or events, covering the players hotel costs. Players are responsible for meal costs and transportation, although for a nominal fee players can ride on the team van.
